Students have been forced to live in alternative accommodation due to delays in the construction of a new 301-bed scheme in Lincoln.

Representing a joint venture between Block Ltd and MWPL Ltd, the scheme on 179 High Street was due to be ready in time for September. However, delays with its construction mean the project may be delayed.

The University of Lincoln has taken on the site for 21 years and has contacted those affected to offer them alternative accommodation in a nearby halls of residence.

Once finished, the development will feature 301 bedrooms, as well as a gym, shops and restaurants.

Commenting on the scheme, a University of Lincoln spokesperson said: "The University aims to make available high standard accommodation and facilities for all of our students and this development will further add to the choices available."

"This accommodation is a private development and the developer has recently explained that the project may be delayed."

"At Lincoln we put our students at the heart of everything we do and we do our utmost to ensure that everyone has somewhere to live where they will be happy and be in a position to make the most of their Lincoln experience."
