Construction on a new block of purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) in Coventry is well underway.

The old listed Coventry and Warwickshire Hospital in Stoney Stanton Road is being transformed into student accommodation.

Scaffolding has been erected around the listed former nurses' home, which will undergo a refurbishment and extension as part of the project.

The new development is being built for Kier Property, with Clegg Construction due to complete the £17.1m contract.

The scheme is due to be finished in time for the 2020-21 academic year and represents the fourth student project being delivered by Clegg Construction.

Simon Blackburn, Clegg Construction Managing Director, said: "We are delighted to have started work on a major student accommodation scheme for Kier Property, which means that we are currently delivering a combined total of over 1,200 student bedrooms across the UK."
