The number of student-only houses in Chester has continued to increase, with 1,411 in Cheshire West and Chester at the last count in May 2018.

This is around 200 more than recorded in May 2017 and almost twice as many as the 834 counted in May 2009, when figures became available.

This figure does not include purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA).

Data from StuRents suggests that the supply of PBSA has also increased in recent years, with the number of beds available increasing by 150 in 2018. Fewer than 100 beds are expected to become live by the end of this year, representing year-on-year growth of just 2.7%.

Whilst the number of student-only houses and flats has increased, certain areas have reported a decline. In Cheshire East there were 183 such properties, down from 203, whilst in Warrington, there were 82, down from 95.
