A significant student accommodation development looks set to be built in Lenton after plans were approved at the end of last year.

Located next to the River Lean, the scheme represents one of the largest developments put forward in the city.

Whilst the council hopes the increase in PBSA will free up family housing, there are concerns that it will simply lead to the universities taking in more students.

In addition to the 703 beds that have been proposed, the accommodation will also feature a cinema room, bicycle spaces and a footbridge that will connect the site to the existing pedestrian routes to the University of Nottingham's Jubliee Campus.

The application was unanimously approved by the city council's planning committee in December.

Nottingham has witnessed an influx of planning applications in recent months and now has one of the largest development pipelines in the county at more than 6,500 beds.
