Residents in Nottingham have been expressing their concern over plans to build more than 500 student beds on the edge of The Meadows.

Whilst those backing the scheme suggest it could free up family homes and bring business to the area, others have raised concerns that The Meadows would lose its identity.

Jensco Group is weighing up the idea of building purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) on a derelict site between Traffic Street, Waterway Street West and Sheriffs Way.

If the plans are eventually approved, the scheme would consist of two blocks of accommodation offering a mix of studios and cluster flats.

A consultation is now underway, with a planning application expected to be submitted to Nottingham City Council in the coming months.

The site was previously used by a former industrial print works but has remained empty for many years.
