The University of Salford has appointed Dr Janice Allan as the Dean of Salford Business School with immediate effect.

Janice joined the university in 2002 as a Lecturer in the School of English, Sociology, Politics and Contemporary History. More recently she joined Salford Business School and has been successful in leading colleagues through a period of structural and cultural change.

Janice will continue to focus on improving the student experience, as well as strengthen ties with industry through the application of credible research.

Commenting on the appointment, Professor Helen Marshall, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Salford said: "Throughout the rigorous recruitment process, which included external support from Professor Kevin Kerrigan at Sheffield Hallam University, Janice demonstrated exceptional insight and passion for driving the Business School forward to create an environment where people feel empowered to innovate both inside and outside the classroom. I am also delighted to see that we continue to nurture our own talent and this appointment demonstrates our advocacy for alternative career paths that are not restricted by discipline."
