Plans to build new student accommodation in Nottingham have been granted permission.

The existing sites at 1 Howard Street and 24-26 Glasshouse Street will be demolished to make way for a 5-6 storey development with commercial units located on the ground floor.

The development was submitted by Callithome Ltd, with the scheme set to feature 69 student bedrooms arranged as ensuite cluster flats. The project had originally been larger, with the applicant initially looking to build a 7-8 storey building with 90 beds, however, the development was reduced in size during the application process.

Nottingham has been a hotspot for planning application activity and StuRents' data indicates the city now has one of the largest development pipelines in the country in terms of beds proposed.
