Plans to build a nine-storey block of student accommodation at Newcastle's Quayside have been granted planning permission.
Stripe Homes, supported by ELG and Napper Architects, submitted proposals to Newcastle City Council in 2019 for the redevelopment of the former Farmers Geotechnical Engineers site on Skinnerburn Road.
The new building will consist of 118 student apartments and will come equipped with cycle storage, common room, media room, gym and a laundrette.
According to documents submitted as part of the application, the development would "improve the mix of housing, as well as resulting in a number of economic benefits".
Previously the site benefited from planning permission and work to build student accommodation began in 2011. However, construction ceased following the insolvency of Blythe House Developments.
