Plans to build student accommodation on the edge of Coventry city centre have been granted planning permission.

Under the proposals, the existing Kebab Rush takeaway in Far Gosford Street will be demolished to make way for 60 student apartments.

The scheme will consist of two separate blocks, with the first containing 28 studio apartments across five-storeys, while the rear block will have 32 studios split over seven-storeys.

According to Coventry City Council, the site is in a "sustainable location" due to its proximity to Coventry University.

They added: "The proposal seeks to create a high-quality design development which replaces the existing low quality architecture on the site. The new development will use modern construction methods and has been designed to harmonise with the existing streetscape with a distinct language of mixed use with retail at ground floor level and student accommodation within the subsequent storeys."
