Bricks Group has teamed up with Create Construction to build the second phase of its student accommodation project in Salford.

Blackpool-based Create Construction specialises in high volume accommodation and announced that planning permission has now been granted for Phase 2 of its Discovery Quays project for Bricks Group.

Bricks Group operates its purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) under its True Student brand and operates more than 2,000 beds under management or under construction.

Phase one of the development is due to welcome its first students this month and contains 402 beds. It is located close to Media City and The Lowry Centre and students can easily access Manchester city centre by tram.

The second phase of the project, with a construction value in excess of £30m, will provide a further 457 beds, along with extra communal and lounge spaces.

Paul Mathison, Create Construction chief executive, said: "Our partnership with Bricks Group is going from strength to strength, as they share the same core values of 'integrity' 'collaborative' and 'easy to do business with'."

"We are looking forward to another successful partnership in the delivery of this next phase of our Discovery Quays project in Salford, an important part of the exciting regeneration of the city."

Peter Prickett, group chief executive of Bricks Group, added: "The expansion of our true development at Salford Quays marks another major step in establishing the brand as a major player in the PBSA management arena and we're delighted to be working with Create once more in delivering this exciting project."
