Black Caviar Property has been granted planning permission to build an 18-storey block of purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) in Leeds.
The project will result in the demolition of an existing office block and the construction of new student accommodation that contains 210 studio apartments. The scheme will also come equipped with a gym, meeting rooms, multimedia room, communal lounge and kitchen, study spaces, wellbeing lounge and an eighth-floor roof terrace.
Planning officers said the decision to approve the scheme would result in the creation of new PBSA at an under-used site within the city centre. They also suggested it would further reduce pressure on private housing being used to extend the supply of student accommodation in the city.
They added: "The building scale and form would complement the emerging townscape and skyline in this part of the city centre whilst the reconfiguration of the courtyard to the south would improve amenities and permeability for local residents and other users of this part of the city centre."
