Vita Student has been granted planning permission to build a 496-bed scheme in Coventry.

The purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) forms part of a wider mixed-use development, the Friargate Masterplan, which consists of 3 million sq ft of new developments including residential, hotels and office buildings.

The application was submitted in partnership with Torsion Developments and Birmingham Property Group.

Commenting on the scheme, David Worsley, managing director of Torsion Developments, said: "It is testament to Coventry City Council that they wholeheartedly supported the vision of what this student accommodation will bring to the students of Coventry and what an asset it will be for the reimagining of the whole of the city centre."

"We thank them for their backing in approving this scheme."

It is hoped the scheme will be ready in time for the 2023-24 academic year.
