Plans to build 370 units of purpose-built student accommodation in Swansea have been given the green light.

The 11-storey development submitted by Pegasus Group on behalf of Watkin Jones Group has been earmarked for High Street.

The scheme will feature both cluster flats and studios and is set to regenerate the site. According to the applicant, the scheme is in a highly sustainable location and its active frontage at ground level will seek to discourage antisocial behaviour in the area.

Fergus Sykes, associate planner from Pegasus Group's Bristol office, said: "We were very pleased to be involved in this successful application for new purpose-built managed student accommodation in Swansea."

"The team worked positively with multiple professional service providers to pull together a robust, comprehensive pack of documentation in support of the application."

"Prior to this, the team also undertook extensive and positive pre-application discussions with Swansea Council and the Design Commission for Wales that helped shape the proposals to create an extremely high-quality, sustainable development that responds excellently to the site's context."
