Situated on the West End of Edinburgh, it is expected that the currently vacant strip of land will be used for a new student accommodation block.

Despite the site being well connected to the city centre, it has remained undeveloped since the late 1980s.

The proposed site is less than two minutes' walk from nearby Haymarket train station.

Planning permission had already been granted in 2018 for a 91-bed student housing development, but a variety of new propositions are currently under consideration.

New plans for the development space have included a cinema room, a gym and other social spaces. In order to make full use of the compact space, the roof is set to be utilised as a communal garden.

A decision on the proposal is expected to be made on December 8th.
