Plans for the demolition of existing offices and warehouse buildings at Argyle House on Collingwood Road, and erection of Purpose Built Student Accommodation (PBSA) were originally submitted in November 2021 by The Chesterfield Partnership.

The proposal stated that the accommodation would be two to five storeys.

Amendments were later made to the plans, including the addition of a rooftop garden for the accommodation. Two of the blocks also had design changes made in the amended plans.

The expected decision date for the plans was 10th February. However, the amendments meant that the public consultation was re-opened, and as such the decision date has now been delayed to the next planning committee meeting on 7th April.

Following the amendments, the responding officer said: "I maintain no objection to the principle of the proposal on policy grounds."

However, Councillor Jayne Innes has commented that: "These plans are crazy and cannot be allowed to go ahead."
