London-based developers Regal has revealed it plans to enter the student accommodation sector, with a proposed purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) scheme in Wembley.

The scheme, located in High Road Wembley, aims to provide 340 student beds at an affordable price point.

Support from planning officers and key stakeholders is now being sought after by Regal, with the intention to apply for planning permission later this Summer.

Co-founder of Regal London, Paul Eden, commented: "We're looking forward to bringing new life to this part of Wembley with our proposals for a vibrant, new home for students in close proximity to the academic centres of excellence across London.

"Our previous experiences working with Brent played a significant part in our decision making to keep building our presence in the area, as the council's 'can-do' attitude and proactive approach to problem solving is a breath of fresh air."

The scheme would mark the second development in the London Borough of Brent for Regal, who have already been granted permission to construct 759 homes in Fulton Road.

Eden added: "This is an important and exciting next step in Regal London's growth, diversifying into a new sector with our trademark quality and design excellence."

Space will be provided on the lower levels on the construction for local businesses, with the student beds located on upper levels of the build. Current plans will see 50% of the beds to be offered at discounted rates as well as 35% of rooms classed as affordable in line with GLA requirements.

The proposals would include a mix of studio apartments and mixed clusters, with the development seeking a BREEAM 'excellent' rating.

Assuming permission is granted, construction is expected to commence early in 2023, with the aim to move students into the accommodation in time for the 2025/26 academic year.
