Bristol City Council's planning committee has granted permission for a new student accommodation block alongside Bristol's Floating Harbour.

Located on Avon Street, the purpose-built student scheme will comprise 471 bedrooms regenerating the brownfield site adjacent to the Bristol Temple Meads train station.

The plans were developed by student accommodation specialists Host Student Housing Ltd alongside Bristol University to help meet the rising demand for beds in the city.

The construction will range between 8 and 12 storeys in height across three buildings, aiming to represent the industrial past of Bristol in its design.

Architectural firm Chapman Taylor has designed the development alongside Bristol-based architects, Churchman Thornhill Finch and real estate experts Savills.

The development is aiming for completion in time for the 2025/26 academic year. Constructions is expected to commence in July 2023.
