West Lancashire Borough Council first received plans for student housing in autumn 2014, but were subsequently withdrawn in favour of a modified application.

The new plan submitted for redevelopment of the former doctors surgery are a scaled-back version of the original application. The former doctors surgery is located in Ormkirk's Conservation Area and is a Listed Building.

The plans indicate a total of 29 En Suite rooms, which would also benefit from communal lounges, dining and kitchen areas. An article in the Southport Visiter indicated the design and access statement was submitted to Historic England for comments "and was favourably received".
