The University of the Highlands and Islands is looking to build hundreds of new student flats around its several campuses.

As part of this push developer Cityheart Ltd have submitted plans for a £2.5 million, 40-bed block on the site of a now derelict abbatoir near Royal Dornoch Golf Club.

The singles rooms would be spaced across two-storeys and would give students access to shared kitchens and living spaces. There would also be parking spaces for residents outside.

The accommodation should it be given the go ahead will serve students undertaking UHI's professional golf degree. It is scheduled to be delivered by September 2017.
