A new student accommodation development in Fort William is nearly complete and has recently moved into the final stages of construction.

Upon completion next month the three-storey, £2.2 million development will provide 40 en-suite bedrooms to West Highland College students at the University of the Highlands and Islands in Lochaber.

The building only broke ground back in September and despite bad weather the construction looks like it will come in on time. Frank Reid, Regional Director at Robertson Northern (the contractor) has said of the construction process, “Despite extremely challenging weather conditions in recent weeks, we have been able to reach this important stage in the development in good time, meaning students can be confident of being able to move into their new accommodation in time for the new academic year. By using pre-fabricated frames from our specialist timber frame division, we've been able to reduce construction time without comprising on design, quality or cost.”
