In partnership with Lacuna Developments, Watkin Jones has received approval from Belfast City Council’s Planning Committee for the Titanic Quarter Student Village, a major purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) project in Belfast’s Titanic Quarter.

The development will address the increasing demand for high-quality student housing in Belfast’s Innovation District. Located on a former industrial site within one of Europe’s largest waterfront regeneration projects, it offers excellent connections to the city centre, Queens University, and the surrounding retail and leisure amenities.

The scheme, which will be delivered in two phases, will house 1,071 students in modern studio rooms and cluster flats. It aims to achieve high sustainability standards, including a BREEAM ‘Excellent’ rating, by employing solar panels, air-source heat pumps, heat recovery systems, and rainwater recycling. The site will also be car-free and promote green travel options.

Amenities will include a café, lounges, dining areas, study spaces, gyms, and more, surpassing the facilities offered by any other PBSA project in Belfast. The scheme will provide 24/7 management and cater to students at all stages of their academic life.

Designed by Todd Architects, with planning support from consultancy firm Turley, the student village is part of the wider Titanic Quarter development, which aims to deliver new housing and commercial spaces for over 8,000 residents by 2035.
