Hull-o New Student Accommodation
This latest project will build 6 student accommodation blocks between 3 and 7 storeys high, containing 92 flats and 563 en-suite rooms. Each flat will range from having one, four, seven or eight bedrooms, and there will also be a new sports centre and 24-hour library.
The 4.2 acre site will be located on the north side of Cottingham Road, extending to the south side of Inglemire Lane. The focus of the site will be the entrance to the development through a social hub, located at the south end of the site so as to provide a strong visual link with the main university campus. There will also be wheelchair-accessible flats on the ground floor; along with landscaped courtyards in-keeping with the aesthetic of the rest of the university.
Trudi Vout, director of campus and accommodation services at the University of Hull said that she hoped ‘the proposed residences will create a positive living and learning environment, where students are ideally placed to attend lectures and take full advantage of the university's facilities throughout the day.'
The project would have ‘wide sustainability benefits' as students would be able to use the local services and community facilities, plus the number of jobs created during the construction period.
Ms Vout concluded that ‘this is such an exciting time for the university, and for the city, as we move closer towards 2017 and an exhilarating year of culture.'
