MP Ben Howlett comments on student housing issues in Bath

MP Ben Howlett of Bath has publicised his concerns surrounding the lack of Bath student housing to support a "huge number of students" in the city. In an interview with BBC Radio Bristol, he added that "community relations" between the general public and universities are becoming a problem to be addressed.
Despite the known issues, MP Ben Howlett ruled out the possibility of capping the number of students coming to the University of Bath and Bath Spa University, which combined, bring in the region of 23,000 students to the city each year.
Professor Christina Slade, vice chancellor of Bath Spa University commented in response that the university has "invested heavily in additional student accommodation", adding "our students play a hugely important role in the local economy.
