This week construction begins on a 20-storey block of student accommodation in Coventry.

The development is due to be finished next summer, is scheduled to cost £40 million and when completed will be the tallest building in the city. The site at Belgrade Plaza and was a car park until 2009 and since then it has remained disused. The new development however will be able to house 597 students at capacity, and will have 1,100 metres sq. of retail space.

A spokesman for the scheme has said "Belgrade Plaza will see a significant transformation of the area from a disused site into safe and high quality accommodation, contributing significantly to Coventry's reputation as one of the UK's top cities to live, work and study in."
