Middlesbrough Council has received a new planning application for a student block on a site previously approved for development in 2014.

Despite clearance, the previously green-lit plans at the junction of Marton Road and Borough Road were never carried out, and after the sale of the site its future looked in doubt.

Snapco 2 however have purchased the new site and are now seeking consent for a five-storey halls, comprising 95 studio apartments and 14 5-beds. The plans also include provision for ground floor facilities and basement parking.

The developer aims to begin work on the site (should the plans go through) in September 2016, with an eye for being ready for the 2017/18 academic year.
