Students Angered by Permanent Move to Online Teaching

The University of Manchester has come under fire from students after revealing its plans to continue online lectures with no reduction in tuition fees.
The university said remote learning, which was originally introduced in response to Covid-19, will become permanent as part of a blended learning approach.
More than 5,000 students have already signed a petition in protest of the move, which they suggest does not provide the same experience or value for money as in-person teaching.
Many UK universities have expressed their intention to keep lectures online into the autumn term, but the University of Manchester has confirmed it will be part of its offering beyond that semester.
According to the university, students want a mixture of in-person learning and online options. They also suggest the move was not driven by financial motivations, with the exact mix dependant on what works for each subject of study.
