The proposed development in Collingwood Road, put forward by Michael Ramus Architects, looks to turn an existing warehouse into high-quality student accommodation. The build will range from 2 to 5 storeys in height and consist of a total of 110 single occupied rooms with ensuites, split into clusters with access to shared kitchen facilities.

Residents have been left frustrated by this and have voiced their concerns via a petition to Coventry City Council. The petition will run until 31/01/2022 and has already gained signatures from 187 people.

The petition claims the proposal is "an extreme over intensification of use" and raises concerns that there would be a net reduction of parking spaces as a direct result. It goes on to state that it would also cause an increase in traffic in tight residential streets impacting road safety and stressing existing infrastructure.

As well as this there are worries that there would be additional litter and noise pollution in an already busy residential area.

The Council is expected to decide on the planning by 10/02/2022.
