PBSA Planned for Former Church Site in Liverpool

The site of a former church in Liverpool could become student accommodation if granted approval by the local council.

The proposals will see the demolition of the former church and probation centre buildings to make room for the apartments, which will occupy two six-storey buildings. Over 105 apartments and 182 student bedrooms are planned for construction.

Liverpool Council is set to decide on the plans next Tuesday (12th April).

The application contains a report detailing planning permission that had previously been secured for the site in December 2019. However, due to a section 106 agreement not being completed, the plans are required to go before the council for a second time.

The church set for demolition was built in the early 2000s before its closure in 2014. Meanwhile, the former probation centre, which was constructed in the 1990s, has since relocated its services elsewhere.

The development site is within walking distance of the University of Liverpool main campus, whilst also being walkable to parts of John Moores University Campus.

If approved, the apartment block will comprise a mix of 61 two-bed apartments, 42 one-bed apartments and 2 three-beds. The application has been recommended for approval by council officers.
