Looking for a great night out in London? Unsure where to start? Let us help you.
As London is such a large and diverse city with so much to offer, it's easy to become overwhelmed by all the options. No matter where you study or live in London, there will always be some excellent student nightlife options nearby. You can practically walk down any street and find a decent pub or bar nearby.
But, if you're looking for a great night out on a student budget, it can be a little trickier. To help you scope out the best options and deals, we're breaking down the top ten student nights in London, and the best areas to find them.
Shoreditch
Packed with street art, trendy coffee shops, quirky shops, and vibey bars, Shoreditch is one of the best places to go in London for a day-to-night experience. You'll have plenty of choices for nightlife, and the clubs tend to be student-friendly in terms of price (if you can hit the right spots). Nights out in Shoreditch tend to be particularly popular with students at Queen Mary's and King's College London, but they're all round crowd pleasers too.
1. XOYO
Just a stone's throw away from Old Street station, XOYO offers three student nights a week: PLAY on a Monday, SNEAK on a Tuesday, and Your Mum's House on a Thursday. If you like hip-hop, R&B, rap, and grime, go to PLAY or Your Mum's House, while if house and techno are more your thing, be sure to hit up SNEAK. With dance-floors spanning two floors and drinks from as little as £2.50, you can't go wrong with a night at XOYO.
2. Queen of Hoxton
Spread over three floors, The Queen of Hoxton has everything you could want from a venue, including two DJ and live music rooms, and a rooftop bar. They regularly host different DJs and events, but have regular club nights too. Head to Non-Stop Pop every Thursday for some cheesy tunes, or Wildlife every Friday for the best in house, disco, garage, hip-hop, and R&B. Plus, if you're looking for a day-time event, they regularly host drag bottomless brunches too.
3. Village Underground
Village Underground is a unique, quirky, and cool venue in a renovated warehouse. It hosts a range of events from club nights and concerts, to exhibitions, live art, and theatre, so there's truly something for everyone. If you head there for a night out, expect to hear a mix of electronic, experimental, indie, and hip-hop music.
Soho
If you're studying in London, nights out in Soho are an absolute must. With a central location and plenty of options, Soho has a lively, bustling atmosphere every night of the week.
4. Heaven
Soho is known as the LGBTQ+ capital of London, so it's no surprise that you can find lots of gay bars and clubs, including G-A-Y, Freedom, and SHE Bar. The most notable of these venues, though, has got to be Heaven, the longest-running gay club in London. Head under the arches of Charing Cross station and check out this club for immaculate vibes and feel-good tunes all night long. Plus, it's free entry for students every Monday. What more could you want?
5. The Roxy
Just around the corner from Tottenham Court Road station, The Roxy is popular with students at the University of London thanks to its wide array of student discounts and drinks deals. An intimate venue, it plays a wide variety of music, from hip-hop and R&B to pop, electro, and garage. They have solid nights for students from Monday to Thursday but Choke on a Wednesday has proved most popular. The doors are cash only though, so make sure you pop to the ATM before queuing.
Brixton
For an affordable night in south London, you can't go wrong with Brixton. You'll find plenty of fun pubs, clubs, and bars here, but you might want to give the Maccies a miss at the end of the night...if you know, you know.
6. The Prince of Wales
If you want a versatile venue, then look no further than The Prince of Wales (POW). A pub, club, and rooftop bar rolled into one, there's always something exciting happening at POW. Check out their Instagram to find out about the upcoming rooftop events. Or, head there on a Friday for House Party Fridays, where you'll hear plenty of throwbacks and dance classics. And it's free entry before midnight, so what more could you want?
7. Electric Brixton
Located opposite Brixton tube station, Electric Brixton is certain to give you an upbeat night out. Housed in an old cinema, this unique venue offers a mix of live performances and club nights. It doesn't offer specific student nights, so it might be a more expensive option. But it's more than worth it for the epic dance and DJ sets.
Clapham
Clapham has a lot to offer in terms of a night out. It's already a firm favourite amongst finance bros, Surrey girls, and, oddly, Australians, so why not check it out for yourself? It's got lots of affordable options for a drink, and plenty of places where you can dance the night away.
8. Infernos
Ok, so this is definitely one that will divide opinion. Infernos is the Marmite of clubs, you either love it or you hate it. But those who love it come back time and time again for the neon lights, the cheesy bangers, and the chance to get on stage podiums and dance in front of the crowds. Bear in mind that Infernos is strictly over 21s only, so you might have to wait until third year to try it for yourself!
North London
If you're studying at UCL, chances are you might be sick of trekking to south London for your club nights. Luckily north London has some great options too. Look at areas like Angel, Islington, Farringdon, and King's Cross for a wide selection of pubs, bars, and clubs.
9. Fabric
Fabric is definitely one of the most iconic student nights in London. Scrap that, it's one of the most iconic club nights in London, full stop. This Farringdon club has three rooms with separate sound systems and atmospheres: Room One, The Loft, and Room Three. You'll find some of London's best electronic music here, so it's definitely not one to leave off your list. Tickets are discounted for students on Resident Advisor and on the door as long as you have valid student ID.

If you want to party until the sun comes up, Egg is the place to go. A large warehouse-style club, Egg is known for playing primarily EDM, techno, and house. They host regular student club nights in London and have now launched 'Student Membership', providing you with prizes and opportunities from free entry and discounted tickets, to VIP tables or bar tabs.
