Student accommodation in Sheffield isn't hard to come by. Sheffield is a diverse and varied city, with lots of different student areas to choose from. Deciding where you should live as a student depends on your needs and preferences. Do you want to be closer to your university campus or is it more important to be right in the heart of the city? Do you prefer a quiet neighbourhood or are you looking for a more exciting atmosphere?

To help you narrow down your choices, we're outlining the top five student areas in Sheffield.

Broomhall

Broomhall is one of the most popular student areas in Sheffield, conveniently located between the University of Sheffield and Sheffield Hallam University. As the area has such a high student population, there are lots of student-friendly activities to take part in. You can watch live music every night at The South Sea or enjoy sets by local DJs every Saturday at The Nottingham House 'Sure Radio' night.

Broomhall is also very close to the Sheffield Botanical Gardens where you can enjoy over 18 different garden areas centred around specific geographical and botanical themes.

Broomhill

Broomhill is just a fifteen-minute walk away from the Sheffield Hallam Collegiate University campus and the University of Sheffield. It also has convenient transport links to the city centre and other neighbouring student areas. There are also lots of independent eateries and interesting bars to explore in Broomhill. Enjoy Vietnamese food from Nam Song, Neapolitan pizzas at Proove, or a Harry Potter-themed cocktail at The Steel Cauldron. With so much to choose from, you'll never be short of options!

Crookesmoor

Crookesmoor is a popular student area in Sheffield, as it is close to Broomhill and Crookes and is just a ten-minute walk away from the University of Sheffield. There are three beautiful parks to enjoy in the area: Crookes Valley Park, Weston Park, and The Ponderosa so you'll have lots of different spots to choose from when hanging out in the summer months.

There are also lots of food and drink options in Crookesmoor. Tuck into the 'Student Palooza' at The Closed Shop every Wednesday and enjoy a range of student deals and discounts. You can also head to The Hallamshire House to enjoy live music performances, pub quizzes, and DJ nights.

Ecclesall Road

Any list of Sheffield student areas would not be complete without mentioning Ecclesall Road. One of the city's most sought-after student neighbourhoods, Ecclesall Road is packed with shops, restaurants, bars, and pubs. Be sure not to miss Quids every Wednesday at 'The Tav' (The Nursery Tavern) where students can get drinks for under £1.75.

Ecclesall Road is also conveniently positioned within walking distance of both universities in the city. In particular, students studying at Sheffield Hallam University tend to live on Ecclesall Road, as the Collegiate campus is very close by.

Sheffield City Centre

The city centre is a buzzing, vibrant student area in Sheffield. When you live in Sheffield city centre, you'll always be surrounded by fun things to do, no matter what your interests are. Watch a performance at the Lyceum Theatre or the Crucible Theatre, enjoy the art exhibitions at the Millennium Gallery, or hit the clubs with your friends in the evening. There are lots of different venues to choose from in the area, but Tank and Corporation are two to definitely not leave off your list!

Not to mention, student accommodation is within walking distance of both Sheffield Hallam University and the University of Sheffield.
