There are also a few airports nearby, making Sheffield an ideal location for international students who might need to fly home. You can travel to either Manchester, Leeds Bradford or Birmingham airport in under two hours using public transport.

How far is Sheffield University from the train station?

Trams from the train station to the University of Sheffield run every twelve minutes, and the journey takes less than ten minutes. If you prefer to walk, it only takes 25 minutes - and you’ll get your steps in! 


It will only take you five minutes to walk from the train station to Sheffield Hallam University which is extremely convenient.


Taxis, cabs and Ubers in Sheffield 

It’s safe to get taxis which are under licence from Sheffield City Council and there are a number of taxi ranks across the city centre. You can also use well-known companies like City Taxis or Uber. The University of Sheffield have a Safe Taxi Scheme which you can use if you run out of money on a night out.
