Located in the ceremonial county of Cheshire, Crewe is a town with a population of roughly 84,000 people. It is also home to Manchester Metropolitan University's Cheshire Campus, as well as South Cheshire College.

Commonly referred to as MMU, the institution was founded in 1970 as Manchester Polytechnic before assuming university status in 1992. Located in the centre of Manchester, MMU also has a campus in Crewe. It educates approximately 37,000 students every year and is highly ranked amongst the so-called 'New Universities'.
