Richmond-upon-Thames is an outer London borough that sits on both sides of the River Thames. With several pubs, shops and restaurants it's no wonder that it's such a popular destination.
Based in south west London, the university operates on three major sites in Roehampton. The parkland campus provides a great break from the bustling city of London with areas such as Putney and Hammersmith just a short distance away. In 2014 the Research Excellence Framework judged the college's research to be one of the most highly regarded in the UK, with two-thirds qualifying as 'world leading' or 'internationally excellent'. In particular, 94% of research in the field of Dance was considered 'internationally excellent', meaning that Roehampton University has the best Dance department in the country.
St Mary's is a well established institution that was founded on Catholic values right back in 1850. Ideally located, it sits just a few minutes from the river. The London-based university has a strong reputation particularly in the fields of Education, Sport and Theology. Due to recent investment several new state-of-the-art facilities are now available to students, including Media Arts Suite, extensive sport labs and a £6m new Library development that is set to open September 2015 and much more.
Richmond is a great place for students, situated not far from the city of London, it has a range of shared houses and other forms of accommodation to suit your needs. Houses in the area are easily commutable to local universities and some rare open space for London can be found in the nearby Richmond Park. For rugby fans, Twickenham is also just down the road.
