The Old Mill is our student residence in Dundee. Don’t let the name fool you: inside you’ll find modern and cleanly decorated spaces that are ideal for student living, with different options to suit different tastes and needs. In summer 2017, we completed a £3 million refurbishment project to breathe new life into this historic building.
Studio or Shared Apartment?
This lovely listed building has 409 rooms for you to choose from, so whatever type of space you need, there’ll be something here for you.
If you like having your own space and the option of absolute peace and quiet whenever you want or need it, then one of our studios or one-bed apartments might be the best choice for you. If you choose a studio, you’ll get a double bed, an open-plan kitchen and living area, and a shower room.
On the flipside, if you want a more social environment and plenty of interaction with your fellow students, then you’ll probably be most comfortable in one of our cluster apartments with shared facilities – you just need to choose whether you want to live in one with two, three, four, five, or six bedrooms!
Outside of your apartment, you’ll also have access to communal facilities: a bright and spacious common room with a big TV, comfy seats, vending machines, and even a full-size pool and ping-pong tables.
All Bills Included
Your rent will cover heating, electricity, and high-speed broadband (including Wi-Fi) – so no hassle for you. All you’ll need to buy is your food!
In the Middle of the Action
The Old Mill is in Dundee City Centre, putting you within a six- or seven-minute walk from the University of Dundee and Abertay University campuses, and around the same distance from the shops, restaurants, bars, pubs, coffee shops, and live music venues. If you’re studying at the University of St Andrews, you’re only 25 minutes away by bus.
You’ll be delighted to know that there is a Lidl just four minutes’ walk from our doorstep, and there’s a Tesco Express about 50 metres from Lidl in case you need anything by a specific name-brand.
Finally, if you’re planning on going home every now and then, or you like to travel to different parts of the country, you’ll only have to walk 10 minutes or so for the train station!
In other words, you’re conveniently located for all things Dundee: close enough to everything you need.
