Spring term is over, and the Easter holidays are now here. Most universities have already broken up and are not set to return for the UK Summer term until early May. With a glorious month of holiday stretching ahead of you, we're sure you're looking for ways to make the most of your time off. This is an opportunity to take a break from your university routine, take some time for yourself and destress. So, what are some things you can do to make your Easter break as relaxing, enjoyable and productive as possible?

The Top 6 Ways to Spend Your Easter Break

There's no one right way to spend your Easter break. Everyone is different and will want to unwind in their own way. To give you some inspiration, we've put together a list of potential ideas that will help you decompress, have fun and prepare for the UK Summer term.

Relax and recharge

University can be stressful. It's important to use your holidays to take some time for yourself to rest and recover from a busy Spring term. The university lifestyle isn't always the healthiest. With so many conflicting responsibilities to juggle, it can be hard to prioritise your physical and mental health. The Easter break offers a chance to refocus on looking after yourself. This doesn't have to be complicated; you could take simple steps like getting outside and active, fuelling your body with some healthy food and making sure you are getting lots of sleep.

Catch up with loved ones

For many students, the Easter holidays are an opportunity to return home. Why not spend some time catching up with the friends and family you've missed while away at university? And, of course, make the most of those home comforts and lovingly prepared meals while you can!

Take a staycation

While not everyone can afford to jet off abroad during the Easter holidays, fortunately, there are great getaway options right here in the UK. From buzzy city breaks in London, Manchester and Edinburgh to tranquil countryside retreats in the Cotswolds, Cornwall and the Peak District, there's something out there for everyone. Plus, it's a great opportunity to use your 16-25 railcard, if you have one. So, why not get exploring this Easter?

Keep on top of your studies

Your Easter holiday period is all about balance. While it can be tempting to spend the whole period relaxing and having fun with friends, keep in mind that exams and coursework deadlines are fast approaching in the UK Summer term. Proactively preparing in your Easter break will help to ensure that the work doesn't build up and you aren't overwhelmed when you return to university. Set aside some time to focus on your degree, revise for exams, and work on any pressing assignments. Future you will thank you for it, we promise.

Prepare for the Summer term

The UK Summer term brings with it exam season. Creating a comfortable and incentivising place to work is a great way to prepare for the Summer term and the long study sessions that await you. Your university library is a fantastic option, but you should also consider creating a dedicated study space in your student accommodation. After all, when it's raining, the walk to the library might not seem so appealing. Use your holiday to think about where you want to study, prepare your space, and get all your supplies ready in advance so you're ready to hit the ground running next term.

Start thinking about moving out...

It's never too early to start thinking about the future - particularly when it comes to your student accommodation. Over the Easter break, you can start considering whether you want to stay in the same accommodation next year or look for new housing. If you choose to move out, the process can be surprisingly time-consuming, particularly if you want to get your entire deposit back. If you're looking to get ahead of the game, start making a list of things you might need to do to prepare for your move, such as addressing maintenance issues and notifying utility suppliers of your departure if you have bills in your name. This ensures that nothing will creep up on you when your move-out date arrives.

No matter how you choose to spend your Easter holiday, be sure to take time to relax, recuperate and enjoy a well-deserved break ahead of next term. We know that the exam preparations and coursework pressures of the UK Summer term can make it a stressful and hectic time.
